The World's second largest market
 
Germany installed 1,665 MW of capacity in 2008, making it the fifth largest market for new installations in 2008.
 
With a cumulative capacity of 23,933 MW Germany is the world's second largest market for wind energy in 2008, only exceeded by the United States. The German wind power capacity equals 19,6 percent of cumulative total in the world's ten largest markets.
 
Over the course of the next five years 11,300 MW are estimated to be installed in Germany. The cumulative installed capacity by the end of 2013 is hereby esteimated to 35,233 MW.
